Big brother season 2 winner Dr. Will Kirby officially resigns as host of the judges’ roundtable on the CBS reality show.
The 51-year-old doctor, who has hosted the jury roundtable on and off since 2013, confirmed the news of his departure on Wednesday, September 18.
“I can confirm that I will not serve as the Big brother Roundtable discussion with the judges this season,” Kirby shared Parade in a statement. “It’s just time to hang up the proverbial cleats. The run I’ve had on the show, first as a contestant and then as a host, is virtually unheard of, but nothing lasts forever; I’m ready to pass the reality TV baton!”
The reality star first entered the franchise in 2001 and outlasted 11 other housemates for 82 days to be crowned the second winner of the series. Nicole Schaffrich was second that season. He also returned for Big brother: All stars in 2006 and came fourth.
Kirby maintained ties with Big brother, he started his roundtable with the judges in 2013 during the show’s 15th season – a role he held on and off until 2023’s season 25. In the segment, evicted housemates talk about who they think deserves to win the show. The images will be shown during the final.
Exclusively spoken against We weekly in 2020, Kirby admitted that these discussions can be had with emotions.
“Every jury has an element of bitterness. And why should we expect otherwise?” he said. “You’d be bitter too if you just lost half a million dollars. But the right person always wins. He or she did everything they could to get the most keys out of the box on the final night!”
In the same interview, Kirby was asked if he believed he was the best player to ever play Big brother.
“Please let me answer your question with a question of my own: What other unscripted television show cast member is still relevant almost twenty years after his or her first appearance?” he replied. “I laid the foundation for the anti-hero gameplay fans enjoy today, I was the architect of alliances, and I am well-versed in every aspect of strategic gameplay.”
He added: “Moreover, I provided pure, unadulterated entertainment, wrapped in a comic shell. Plus, I literally created the word “showmance.” So yes, I am unequivocally the best to ever play.”
There has been no announcement yet from CBS on who will take over the vacant role following Kirby’s departure.
