Dubai princess Sheikh Mahra Mohammed Rashed Al Maktoum went viral after her public declaration of divorce from her husband Sheikh Mana Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum.
“Since you are busy with other companions, I hereby declare our separation,” Mahra, the daughter of the current ruler of Dubai, wrote in an Instagram statement on July 16. “I divorce you, I divorce you, and I divorce you. Greetings. Your ex-wife.”
The pair raised eyebrows among Instagram users, with many wondering what happened in their relationship to cause such a public rift. Commenters were quick to praise Mahra’s wild split announcement. It is speculated that she wrote “I divorce you” three times to invoke an Islamic practice called triple talaq, which results in an instant divorce. (The controversial practice is banned in many Middle Eastern countries.)
Mahra’s estranged husband has not yet publicly commented on the split. In fact, both social media accounts do not contain any images that include each other.

Mahra and Mana got married at the Saeed Hall of the Dubai World Trade Center. She walked down the aisle in a beautiful dress by Dubai-based designer Ezra Couture. Mahra showed off photos from her wedding on Instagram and captioned the photo with a white heart emoji.
Prior to news of their marriage, the former couple kept details about their relationship relatively secret.
October 2023
Mahra announced that she and Mana were getting ready to welcome their first child together. At the time, she shared a photo of the baby’s ultrasound, along with the caption, “Just the three of us.”
