Zakaria Eddahchouri from Deportivo La Coruna is currently “under observation” in a hospital after he fell from a promenade by the sea while taking a selfie, “small injuries” sustained during the fall.
“RC Deportivo confirms that player Zakaria Eddahchouri is observed in a hospital in a Coruna after a setback yesterday,” the club said in a statement on Saturday. “After the first study, the footballer has slight injuries and is treated by the accompanying medical team. The club would like to thank the emergency services for their fast intervention. RC Deportivo will continue to report on the progress of Zakaria Eddahchouri.”
According to local media reports, firefighters and an ambulance were called on the spot at night after they heard that someone had fallen on rocks. Eddahchouri was reportedly saved with the help of a ladder before being taken to a local hospital.
Eddahchouri, a resident of the Netherlands, joined Depor in January and scored two goals in six games to date for his new club, which is currently in 13th place in the Second Division of Spain. Eddahchouri played as recently as Saturday and went for 90 minutes in their loss against Grenada.
There are currently no other details about the injuries of Eddahchouri or a timeline for his return to the field.
Depor has two more games left on the schedule in the Segunda Division, in which the season ends on June 1 at home against Elche, who has already protected promotion to La Liga for the 2025-26 campaign.
