Euro 2024 is almost over. We started with 24 teams, but only two remain after the top two teams from each group and four third-placed teams made up the field for the opening knockout stages.
All of the tournament’s top contenders emerged from the group stage relatively unscathed, although the round was not without a few surprises. Although France and Belgium both advanced, neither won their groups with Austria and Romania respectively taking home the honors. The shake-up has seen the European Championship feature a handful of heavyweight matches earlier than expected in the tournament, with France versus Belgium the highlight of the round of 16. In the quarter-finals, Spain defeated Germany in the match of the round before beating France in the final. semi-finals, and they will face England, who came through the relatively easier side of the tournament, beating Slovakia, Switzerland and the Netherlands.
