The Food and Drug Administration continues to investigate four outbreaks of nutritional diseases, two of Salmonella and two by Listeria Monocytogenes.
For an outbreak of Salmonella Newport, the number of patients is 29, more than two of the past week. The FDA has not reported how old the patients are or where they live. The agency started Traceback, but has not reported what food is being traced. The FDA first placed the outbreak on February 20.
For an outbreak of Salmonella Enteritidis, the number of patients remains stable at the age of 18, with the Salmonella outbreak tribe reporting from seven states.
The outbreak is linked to sweet cream-colored mini-cakes made in Italy and exported to the United States by Importations Piu Che Dolci Inc. from Quebec, Canada. The outbreak began in Canada, where 69 patients are reported sick. The pastries have been recalled in both countries. The FDA first placed the outbreak on 5 February.
For an outbreak of Listeria Monocytogenes traced to frozen food shakes, the patient remains counts at 38 with 12. The shakes involved were sold to nursing homes under the Sysco and Lyons ReadyCare brands. Both brands Shakes have been recalled. The Shakes were produced by Prairie Farms Dairy Inc. In the facility in Fort Wayne, in. The FDA found Listeria Monocytogenes in the facility. The FDA heard for the first time of the outbreak in October 2024. The office placed the outbreak as being of unknown origin in 26 December 2024. It announced the cause on 21 February.
Another outbreak of infections by Listeria Monocytogenes remains in research. There are 36 patients. A cause of the outbreak must still be determined. The FDA has not reported how old the patients are or where they live. The agency started with traceback efforts, but has not reported which food it is tracing. It started with inspections and testing samples, but has not reported which location is inspected or what the test. The FDA first placed the outbreak on January 15.
