HBO has released a first look at several major series coming in 2025, including ‘The Last of Us’ Season 2, ‘White Lotus’ Season 3, the ‘Game of Thrones’ spin-off ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ and more.
The teaser was released on Sunday night shortly before the Season 2 finale of “House of the Dragon.” It gave a preview of all the upcoming series in 2024 and a quick look at what’s coming next year.
Some of the big shows yet to debut in 2024 include “The Penguin,” a spinoff series of Matt Reeves’ “The Batman”; “Dune: Prophecy,” a prequel series that follows the Bene Gesserit from Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune” films; Season 3 of “Industry”, Season 3 of “The Sex Lives of College Girls”; Season 5 of “Harley Quinn”; and James Gunn’s animated DC series “Creature Commandos.”
The teaser concluded with brand new footage of upcoming shows in 2025. It was a quick look at Season 3 of “White Lotus” in Thailand; “And just like that” Season 3; “The Gilded Age” season 3; ‘Welcome to Derry’, a prequel series to the horror films ‘It’; “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms”; and “The Last of Us” Season 2.
The “Last of Us” sneak peek featured the return of Pedro Pascal as Joel, Bella Ramsey as Ellie and Gabriel Luna as Tommy. There was also a first look at newcomer Isabela Merced as Dina, Jeffrey Wright as Isaac and the mysterious character of Catherine O’Hara.
HBO previously showed a first photo of star Pedro Pascal, who plays the cold but loving father figure Joel in Bella Ramsey’s Ellie. Just as the first season of “The Last of Us” is an adaptation of the critically acclaimed 2013 video game of the same title, Season 2 is expected to follow the events of the 2020 sequel, “The Last of Us Part II,” which about the consequences of Joel’s actions in the season 1 finale.
