The former head football coach of Littleton High School was cited Tuesday on suspicion of reckless endangerment as part of a police investigation into hazing and assault on the football team, school district officials said.
Lance Vieira was cited on suspicion of reckless endangerment during the Littleton Police Department’s investigation into “alleged hazing” of the high school’s football team, Principal Thomas Velazquez wrote in an email to the school community on Tuesday.
Viera’s citation was a result of the investigation but was not related to the original assault charge, Velazquez wrote.
Vieira is “no longer with the program” and Littleton police are still investigating the case.
The letter did not specify when Vieira’s employment with the school district ended, and Littleton Public Schools officials could not be reached for comment late Tuesday evening.
The investigation began in late August after someone submitted an anonymous tip, school officials said.
