Two children and two adults were killed Wednesday afternoon when an all-terrain vehicle crashed into a pickup truck in Morgan County, according to the State Patrol.
About 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, a 22-year-old man, a 22-year-old woman, a 2-year-old boy and a 1-year-old baby were killed in the crash at the intersection of County Road C and County Road 31, said State Trooper Gabriel Moltrer.
They have not been publicly identified and Moltrer did not know the relationship between the four, all of whom were riding in the side-by-side all-terrain vehicle, a Polaris RZR.
The 22-year-old man, who was driving the Polaris RZR, drove through a stop sign at the intersection and crashed into the pickup, a Ram 5500. Everyone in the Polaris died at the scene.
The driver of the truck was seriously injured and taken to a hospital. The identity of that driver has not been publicly released.
Moltrer said alcohol or drug use is suspected in the crash, but could not say which driver investigators believe were under the influence.
He also wasn’t sure what the speed of each vehicle was at the time of the crash, but noted the investigation is ongoing.
