“I think this can be a little bit misinterpreted into the world of, I’m doing it because I want to say I can do it, and that’s really not the point,” The Night Cop star, 30, said during an appearance on Tuesday, January 14 The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “For me, it’s about audience immersion.”
Basso stars in the Netflix series as FBI agent Peter Sutherland, who works in the White House as a Night Action telephone operator. He told Fallon, 50, that when the audience is watching The Night Cophe wants them to feel that his performance is believable.
“I don’t want the audience watching the show, and then right at the moment I’m about to get hit, or hip thrown, or thrown on my back, you know. I feel like it’s a lie,” the actor said. “I like acting, I don’t like lying.”
For Basso, he considers it a “difference” when it comes to performing stunts for the sake of audience immersion and “for the sake of credibility.”
‘They like Peter [and] It’s important to see him hitting, I think,” he explained. ‘And if that means being thrown against a wall, fine. It’s not the end of the world.”
