Google’s AI Chatbot will soon be able to get a large upgrade with which it can tap into your search history and offer more personalized answers based on what you have looked up before.
This potential function was discovered by Android Authority in an MOT breakdown of the latest Google App Beta (version 16.8.31), which hints for an upcoming model called ‘Gemini Personalization’.
This version of Google Gemini seems to be designed to offer help that is tailored to your previous searches. If you sign up, this can have access to your Google search history, making the answers more relevant to your interests. However, it is said that the function only works if your setting ‘Web & App Activity’ is engaged.
If you are worried about privacy, according to a pop-up of the confirmation (above, second image), your data will not be shared over all Gemini models unless you allow this specifically. Only the personalization model has access, plus there is an easy option to unsubscribe.
Android Authority reports that this version of Gemini was able to summarize recent searches and to mark specific questions from the past two months. Although it is still in an experimental phase, the results suggest that this can be a useful tool for people who often use Google Search.
Although the personalization model is expected to be available for Gemini Advanced (requires £ 18.99/$ 20 per month Google One subscription) only users, it is not officially announced when it will be rolled out. The speculation suggests that it could come soon.
