Google is working on a new Pixel app that promises to bring all your messages together in one place on your Pixel -Smartphone, including WhatsApp.
Modern messages can be a bit tricky, with several apps that compete for your chat time. The proposed solution from Google is the Pixel Besties app, and there are indications that it could include the biggest message service of third parties of all.
What is Pixel Besties?
Android Authority has seen code in the latest WhatsApp Beta (V2.25.3.22, if you are interested) that points to a new content provider called Pixel Besties. There are also references to a so -called pixel relationships app or service within the code.
Previous discoveries within the Google Contacts App Pixel Besties (previously known as VIPs) as an app that brings together all your interactions with certain frequent contacts in one handy user interface.
We are talking about messages, calls, status updates, location information and more.
The earlier Google Contact Discovery discovered a widget that would emerge all these contact details on your home screen.
What does it have to do with WhatsApp?
With this latest mention of Pixel Besties in the WhatsApp app, it seems that whatsapp support has been requested and taken over by Google.
It should mean that you have access to your WhatsApp chats (at least in a limited capacity) from a new central Google app.
Regarding a timeline on this new Pixel Besties function, the source expects that it could roll out as part of the next Pixel Quarterly Platform Release (QPR) update for the Pixel 9 series and earlier.
Presumably WhatsApp will take the lead, in combination with Google’s own messages app, but we expect that Meta Messenger will be nearby. After all, WhatsApp is owned by the same company, so there is clearly a willingness to work together on the integration of messages.
