Harvey Epstein Responds to 'Saturday Night Live' Sketch

New York Assembly Member Harvey Epstein and New York City Council hopefuls joked about the “Saturday Night Live” skit that made fun of Epstein’s name.

“I agree with Johan [Mulaney]…let’s not call it Epstein’s Island,” Epstein wrote on social mediareferring to a joke in the skit.

Mulaney, who played Epstein in the sketch, joked about the politician sharing a name with Harvey Weinstein, the film producer and convicted sex offender, and Jeffrey Epstein, who committed suicide in 2019 while awaiting trial on minor sex trafficking charges.

“Look. Is my name ideal?” asks Mulaney, who plays Harvey Epstein in the sketch. “Of course not. I competed with two of the most infamous sex perverts of all time.”

The sketch, which resembles an ad for Harvey Epstein, tries to show that he is a different person from Weinstein and Jeffrey Epstein, as New Yorkers say they are voting for him because “everyone deserves a second chance” and “he knows a lot famous people.”

“Even Hillary couldn’t kill this guy,” says one fake New Yorker, referring to a conspiracy theory that Hillary Clinton had Jeffrey Epstein killed. “Good for him. He is a survivor.”

A narrator also says that Harvey Epstein is “looking out for miners.”

“Miners,” Mulaney says. “That’s an important distinction,” adding that he loves children “not in a creepy way.”

The sketch ends with the narrator saying that if New Yorkers elect Harvey Epstein, they can make New York “Epstein’s Island,” a joke that references the private island that Jeffrey Epstein owned, where he allegedly committed many of his crimes committed.
