The upcoming DC Studios series “Lanterns” has cast Jason Ritter in a recurring role.
Ritter joins a cast that also includes Aaron Pierre, Kyle Chandler, Kelly Macdonald, Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan and Ulrich Thomsen. According to the official logline, the show follows: “New recruit John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) and Lantern Legend Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler), two intergalactic agents drawn in a dark, mystery based on earth while investigating a murder in Heartland, USA.”
Ritter plays Billy Macon, described as’ a handsome charmer who does his father’s offering. He benefits from the reputation of his family and clings to his ego in a small city and has everything to lose. ”
Ritter is currently appearing in the CBS drama “Matlock” opposite Kathy Bates, which has been renewed for a second season. He is also ready to appear in the coming second season of “Poker Face” in Peacock. He is known for his roles in shows such as ‘Joan of Arcadia’, ‘Kevin (probably) saves the world’, ‘Parenthood’ and ‘Dioning Dion’. He earned an Emmy nomination for his role in “Parenthood” and was also nominated for the short series of “Tales of Titans”. Ritter also played in films such as “Frozen II”, “The Tale” and “The Meddler.”
He is being taken back by the Burstein Company and Gersh.
“Lanterns” is produced by HBO in collaboration with Warner Bros. Television and DC Studios. It was picked up for eight episodes in HBO in June 2024. Originally intended as a Max Original, the show shifted to HBO as part of a new delimitation plan for content.
“Lanterns” is partly written by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof and Tom King. All three serve as executive producers together with James Hawes, where Hawes also directs the first two episodes. James Gunn, Peter Safran and Ron Schmid also an executive products. Stephen Williams, Geeta Vasant Patel and Alik Sakharov will direct the series. HBO produces in collaboration with Warner Bros. Television and DC Studios.
