Highways icy but open after overnight snow

Traffic flowed on major highways in Colorado Saturday morning despite the snow and ice that descended on the Front Range late Friday, leaving many emergency responders on alert for accidents.

The Colorado Department of Transportation state map showed all highways and major state highways open as of 10:30 a.m. as dozens of crews worked to clear roads.

A winter weather advisory published by the National Weather Service will remain in effect around Fort Collins, Boulder, Denver, Castle Rock and Greeley until 5 p.m. due to slippery driving conditions.

Colorado State Patrol advises drivers to do this check the batteries, fluids and tire pressure of their vehicles, all of which could be affected by extreme cold, before temperatures are expected to drop below zero degrees on Saturday night.
