During the holidays, many football matches are played in Europe and Asia, with matches in England and Italy taking center stage. This year’s festive fixtures start on Monday with Serie A action, but get into full swing with eight Premier League matches scheduled for Boxing Day. The top leagues of England and Italy will play a spread of matches over the next two weeks, while England’s lower leagues also have plenty to offer over the holiday period. In addition, several Asian national teams will take part in the Gulf Cup of Nations to end the year, while the Scottish Premiership will host the latest edition of the Old Firm in the new year.
