Homeless man reportedly shot and killed by police outside the Republican National Convention

1:54 PM PT — Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ that Tuesday’s shooting was completely unrelated to the RNC — and that the Secret Service was on the scene because officers happened to be in the area and simply rendered aid.

A homeless man was reportedly shot and killed not far from the Republican National Convention – and while this appears to have nothing to do with Donald Trump …there was police present.

The shooting happened Tuesday in Milwaukee, about a mile outside the Fiserv Forum — where there is a wide margin of safety … and where a Columbus, Ohio, police officer opened fire on a man — who eyewitnesses say was a drifter in the city.

The exact circumstances of the shooting are not clear – including why the man was shot – but all reports indicate that the man is now dead… and there is a huge police presence.

There’s a video going around of the aftermath of the scene… and you can see officers swarming the place – with caution tape all over the place. The Secret Service is also reportedly on the scene… although it’s unclear what their involvement in the case is.

Of course, you can imagine that law enforcement is more tense than ever after the murder attempt on Trump’s life over the weekend… where he was almost killed.

We know his secret service was reinforcedand so is the safety at the RNC in general operating at maximum capacity – and the fact that so many officers were dispatched to deal with this officer-involved shooting, which appears to be unrelated to Trump, proves that.

As for why an Ohio cop is in Milwaukee, several law enforcement agencies from neighboring states have actually been brought in to assist with the weeklong event.
