How Kamala Harris dealt with Trump's victory with Doritos

Vice President Kamala Harris just sent the most recognizable email of her career.

While it might serve as yet another fundraising email for her 2024 presidential election campaign, Harris charmed readers by reminding them of her response to former President Donald Trump’s 2016 victory, which included a orange snack was involved.

“It was incredibly bittersweet,” she wrote the Friday email. “When I took the stage for my acceptance speech – to represent California in the Senate – I tore up my notes. I just said, ‘We will fight.’

“Then I went home and sat on the couch with a family-sized bag of nacho Doritos.”

“I have not shared one chip with anyone,” Harris continued in the fundraising email. “Not even [my husband] Doug [Emhoff]. I have just watched the television with great shock and dismay.”

While likely Harris voters on social media relatedanother noticed the large amount of product placements in this year’s race, as Trump’s running mate JD Vance has now praised Diet Mountain Dew repeatedly – and Trump sidetracked on Thursday by a box of Cheerios.

Nevertheless, the email resonated with those who similarly remember Hillary Clinton’s 2016 loss.

“This is so real. I was curled up on the couch with Reeces Peanut Butter Cups and bourbon,” wrote one user on Xformerly Twitter, with another message: “I think we all have to deal with that feeling. And a bag of Doritos was healthier than my bottle of wine that night.”

Harris has shared the Doritos story before told it almost word for word in her 2019 appearance on “Late Night with Seth Meyers.”

Harris has a well-known taste for Doritos.

The vice president was not photographed alone munching on the cheese flavored chips previously, but said in 2019 on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that Doritos are her favorite snack — and that she often relies on portable meals because of her busy schedule.

“I like vegetables,” Harris said at the time. “I like to eat with a knife and fork whenever I can. And I say that because nowadays, when I’m campaigning, I often sit in the car and eat, tearing open boxes and [choosing] something you can eat with one hand.”
