Fits LA creators have found ways to connect the series’ characters specifically Stephen Amell‘s Ted Black – based on the beloved original series.
Amell, 43, spoke with Entertainment weekly on Monday, December 16 about what his character has a special bond with Gabriel Macht‘s Harvey Specter from the first To take series, saying, “You’ll notice from behind my desk that there’s a photo of a young Ted Black with what can only be a young Harvey Specter, so there’s clearly some history between the characters.”
The NBC spinoff made an attempt to hold on Fits LA in the same universe.
‘We ended up together in the prosecutor’s office. So if I had someone [from the original cast] come back, I wish it was Gabriel,” Amell told EW. “I really hope that happens because I’m a big fan of his character and I think that dynamic is something that viewers would really enjoy.”
Amell said Macht, 52, was the Suits alum he wanted to see make a guest appearance on the reboot/new show, just a month after rumors swirled about Harvey’s return. Macht hinted at his return when he shared an Instagram post in November showing off his outfit, which included a shirt with the initials “HS” stitched into it and shoes with the name “Harvey” in the soles.
“When an old friend is in need,” he captioned the post. “It’s time to take care of things and make those ‘things’ right.”
The original Suits was set in a fictional corporate law firm in New York City and followed attorney Mike Ross (Patrick J Adams), who started working with Harvey Spectre. The legal drama, which ran from 2011 to 2019, focused on Harvey and Mike winning lawsuits and closing cases while keeping Mike’s secret hidden.
The show saw a resurgence in popularity in 2023 when it was added to Netflix and Peacock. As a result, NBC developed a spin-off starring Amell, Josh McDermitt, Lex Scott Davis And Bryan Greenberg.
“We want to play the hits. We want to have a lot of fun,” Amell said EW. “We are currently alone in the Black Lane Law group meeting room because of Gabriel and Patrick [J. Adams] And Sara [Rafferty] and Meghan [Markle] And Rick [Hoffman] and all the people who were part of the original Suits cast. So they are all welcome.”
Amell made it clear that the door is open for more cameos, adding, “I’m not the one inviting them, but as far as I’m concerned they’re all welcome. … We’re going to do our own thing, and that’s okay. We do things in this show that they couldn’t do in the original.
