On Friday evening, President Joe Biden will sit down for a conversation with ABC News host George Stephanopoulos, eight days after his presidential debate with former President Donald Trump. This will be Biden’s first television interview since his shaky debate performance, which sent his campaign into a tailspin and sparked a media firestorm over whether he should resign.
The first glimpses of the interview will drop at 6:30 PM ET “World News Tonight with David Muir.” The discussion will air in its entirety during an ABC prime-time special at 8:00 PM PT/ET. Cord cutters can tune into the interview live online through various live TV streamers such as Sling, Fubo and Hulu+ Live TV.
A second chance to watch the conversation comes Sunday “This week with George Stephanopoulos.” Airtimes vary between regional stations.
The interview will also be available to watch on the ABC app, ABC.com, ABC news live and on platforms such as Roku, Apple TV+ and Amazon Fire TV.
This interview comes at a crucial time for the Biden campaign, as his fundraisers and advisers assess whether his campaign can be saved. After last week’s debate, some of Biden’s top Hollywood donors threatened to withdraw their financial support if the 46th president did not withdraw from the race.
“With all the texting chains I’m on, people are basically saying, ‘If he doesn’t drop out, we’re not going to give any more money to the Democrats or the Democratic Party.’ It’s really intense,” said one top-level Hollywood donor Variety.
On Wednesday, Reed Hastings, co-founder and executive chairman of Netflix, echoed this sentiment in an email to the New York Times, writing: “Biden must step aside to allow a strong Democratic leader to challenge Trump.” defeat and keep us safe and prosperous.”
