Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal has suggested the possibility of an early retirement of professional football while working to return to action. The Spain International missed the majority of the season due to injuries, after he has torn his front cruciate ligament (ACL) in the campaign early.
Carvajal revealed in an interview via X that he understands that his career is approaching his career as a football player. The 33-year-old revealed that he chose to be realistic in his assessment, indicating that he is not over for many years to play.
“It has been a long journey. My sports career is approaching all the end. I don’t hope so, but I have to be realistic”.
Dani Carvajal has been in Real Madrid all his senior career, but enjoyed an unforgettable 2024 before his injury. The right back helped Real Madrid the UEFA Champions League and Leaga titles to win in the 2023-24 season, and scored in the Champions League final. He then continued helping Spain Euro 2024 and was nominated for the Ballon d’Or.
Carvajal played only eight times this season in Laliga before he sustained his injury against Villarreal in October. The right back is expected to return to action for the FIFA Club World Cup next month, but will prepare his mind for retirement.
Real Madrid handed Dani Carvajal an extension from a year to 2026 after his injury, and the Spaniard can choose to retire at the end of the 2025-26 season. Los Blancos has already agreed to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold as his long-term replacement at the club.
Real Madrid announces signing of Spain International
Real Madrid has announced the addition of Spain International Dean Huijsen to their team for next season after finding an agreement with Bournemouth. Los Blancos has succeeded in beating a large number of clubs for the signature of the 20-year-old, with Xabi Alonso said he had played a key role.
Huijsen was the subject of a tugboat of war from some of the greatest sides of Europe, including Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal, before he chose to become a member of Los Blancos. They pay his release clause of £ 50 million over three episodes and will sign him for a contract until 2030.
Dean Huijsen rejected a movement to the Santiago Bernabeu as a 16-year-old from Malaga, instead chose to move to Juventus. The young defender will be with the team before the FIFA Club World Cup, where he is expected to make his debut under Alonso.
