Indonesia orders stop tourist projects that are linked to Trump

Jakarta, Indonesia (AP) – Indonesian authorities have ordered the development of a tourism Affiliated with US President Donald Trump about water management and environmental issues, officials said on Friday.

The 3,000 hectare project (11.6 square miles) is the brainchild of the Indonesian business partner of Trump, billionaire and politician Hary Tanoesoedibjo, who attended Trump’s inauguration in Washington last month.

His association with Trump started in 2014 when his group company, MNC, was looking for an operator for vast “Six Star” Resorts, one that was built on the tourist island of Bali and the other near Jakarta.

In exchange for a reduction in income, the Trump organization would manage hotels, golf courses and country clubs that would cost around $ 700 million for MNC to convert. The projects form the core of larger developments that the company is planning.

In a January 2017 Interview with the Associated PressTanoesoedibjo, better known as Tanoe, said that the development of the entire 3,000 hectare Lido City would last more than a decade and cost up to $ 3 billion, the Trump of which would cost more than $ 300 million.

The company has been promoting the project for years.

In 2023, Indonesian President Joko Widodo gave it a special status of economic zone, resulting in MNC ground tax benefits and clementation on permits.

Since 2014, a vast “Trump community” has been built in this bag of the most densely populated island of Indonesia, with a new toll road that leads to it, located in Gunung Gede Pangrango, about 60 kilometers (37 miles) south of the capital, Jakarta, and is the home of a new Trump golf course, who was a member of the offer last year.

Although a private development, Lido City fits in with the ambitions of the Indonesian government to create more tourist destinations that it hopes will be just as popular as Bali. It is part of broader plans, including a huge theme park, which have alerted alarms that are afraid of development, will overwhelm Habitats for some of the most endangered species of the archipelago.

The Ministry of the Environment said in a statement that rule of rainwater in the resort had caused sedimentation in Lido Lake, making it shallower and halved the size of the water body up to 12 hectares (30 hectares).

“The mismatch between environmental plans and physical implementation is a serious care in attempts to maintain natural resources,” said Ardyanto Nugroho, director of the Ministry of Environmental Complaints, Monitoring and Law Enforcement.

He said that his team was still waiting for the results of laboratory tests to determine further steps in the environmental manual enforcement process.

“We are committed to maintaining the environment and will take strong action against violations that influence the ecosystem and the surrounding communities,” said Nugroho.

Local media reports showed a sign with a sign that the project was installed under “Supervision” on one side of Lido Lake.

Gunung Gede Pangrango is one of the last virgin tropical forests in Java, where only 2% of the original forest remains. It nourishes a dazzling variety of flora and fauna: more than 2,000 species of ferns, mosses and flowering plants and 250 bird species.

Endangered species include the Javan Slow Loris’s worldly only poisonous primate-the Javan Leaf Monkey, the Javan Leopard, whose total population numbers less than 250, and the Javan Hawk-Eagle and Javan Zilverlig Gibbon.

The park has a rehabilitation center for silvery gibbons that are saved from the illegal trade in wildlife. The gibbons, known for practicing lifelong monogamy and their strikingly small, intense faces, number less than 4,000 in the wild.

PT MNC Land President Director Budi Rustanto denied that the project of his company had caused sedimentation in Lido Lake and said it also came from other projects, offices, housing and buildings in the area, including a government office complex and existing community differences.

He said that his ownership office had followed the criteria and requirements with regard to the environmental impact analysis, known as Amdal.

“Since 2013 we have always tried to overcome the problem of surface of the lake, this is because 50% of the lake is in our development area,” Rustanto told Kompas News Outlet, adding that a number of efforts will continue to be made to the problem From the surface of the lake, including dredging plans.

Environmental activists welcomed the movement of the government as a sign that it was serious in tackling project management failure to consider the environmental impact near the land designated as a special economic zone.

Executive chairman of Konservasi Indonesia, Meizani Irmadhiany, said that the Lido area is one of the most important river areas of the River Cimandiri and part of the landscape of the landscape of Gunung GEPE Pangrango National Park, not just for the people of West Java But also for the inhabitants of the inhabitants of Jakarta.

“The slope contours serve as a considerable river basin for water and the area planned for the project is on critical land,” Irmadhiany said. “It is time for the business sector to give priority to environmental principles that have direct consequences for the environment and the communities, as well as the business community itself in the long term, before and during development.”
