An Iowa police officer fatally shot a dog in front of the pet’s owners and young children — but the question remains whether the officer had the right to use deadly force.
The officer, identified by Our Quad City News as Ethan Bockresponded to a home in Davenport, IA, the night of August 21, after receiving a report of four aggressive dogs trying to jump a fence to reach another pooch.
While Bock was investigating the call in an alley, he came across one of the dogs charging at him from a yard outside the house.
Check out the footage… The dog shoots straight at Bock, causing him to kick back as he draws his service weapon and fires two shots.
It is clear that the dog is hit by at least one bullet as you can hear the mutt yelping in pain as it finally dies.
The dog’s family – including two children – witnessed the entire incident and screamed in horror as the children began to cry.
The Davenport Police Department issued a statement saying it is investigating the shooting and would review all surveillance video in the area and police body-worn camera footage. The department also says it is committed to following all its policies and procedures.
However, no mention of Bock was made in the press release, but he is clearly at the center of the case.
That’s why TMZ is conducting a poll. Do you think Officer Bock was justified in shooting the dog or should he have taken a different approach?
