Jamie Dornan Starrer's 'The Tourist' gets an Indian adaptation

Jamie Dornan starrer ‘The Tourist’ is getting an Indian film adaptation.

Banijay Asia has signed a deal with All3Media International, distributor of The Tourist, acquiring the rights to create a local adaptation.

Written by Harry and Jack Williams, The Tourist stars Dornan as a man who wakes up in Australia with amnesia after a car accident.

“In search of answers, he meets a local woman who remembers him and volunteers to help him rediscover his identity,” the logline says. “The few clues he can find indicate that he has a dark past that he must escape before it catches up with him.”

The show’s second season, which launched earlier this year, sees the characters move to Ireland as the mystery deepens.

The original series was produced by Two Brothers Pictures and Highview Productions.

“We at Banijay are big fans of Two Brothers and the exciting masterpieces they create,” said Mrinalini Jain, Group Chief Development Officer for Banijay Asia & EndemolShine India. “’The Tourist’ offers a unique blend of mystery and suspense that we believe will resonate deeply with our viewers. We are thrilled to bring an adaptation of such a gripping and internationally acclaimed series to the Indian audience. By working with All3Media International, we can maintain the high standards of the original while giving it a distinctly Indian flavor.”

Sabrina Duguet, EVP for Asia Pacific at All3Media International, added: “’The Tourist’ has been a phenomenal success globally and we are excited to see it adapted for the Indian market. Banijay Asia has an impressive track record of creating high-quality local adaptations, and we are confident they will deliver an exceptional version of this globally beloved thriller. We look forward to seeing how the story is reimagined for Indian viewers.”

Banijay Asia has previously adapted shows like ‘The Night Manager’, ‘Call My Agent’ and ‘The Trial’ for local audiences.
