Jeff Glor, who had a unique career trajectory at CBS News that included leading “CBS Evening News” during a difficult period and then reinvigorating the network’s Saturday morning news program, is leaving the news department, according to a person familiar with the case.
Glor, who has co-written the Saturday morning broadcast since 2019, will depart amid a significant wave of layoffs at CBS parent company Paramount Global.
CBS News declined to make executives available for comment. The news of Glor’s departure was previously reported on social media by Puck News.
Glor joined CBS News in 2007 after four years as a weekend evening news anchor and weekday reporter for Boston’s WHDH. Within two years, he was picked for prominent roles, including head anchor at the streaming service once known as CBSN; a two-year stint as Saturday anchor of “CBS Evening News”; and a four-year stint as the show’s Sunday anchor. He also hosted an earlier incarnation of CBS News’ morning program, “The Early Show,” in 2011.
