Jennifer Lopez is in London to promote her upcoming film Unstoppablebut during a photocall on Thursday, November 7, she wore a pristine white coat that paid tribute to her beloved 2002 film, Maid in Manhattan.
In the Up from the Bronx story, Lopez stars as Marisa Ventura, a – well – maid who falls in love with senatorial candidate Christopher Marshall (Ralph Fiennes). After Marisa innocently ‘borrows’ designer clothes from a rich woman staying at the hotel (played by Natasha Richardson), she meets Marshallwho mistakes her for another Manhattan socialite.
However, there’s no doubt that the 55-year-old Lopez’s real-life look was perfectly in line with the “rich mom” aesthetic that may be even more popular today than when the film premiered. Lopez’s tonal wardrobe took us straight back to her character’s famous style.
To further increase authenticity, the entire ensemble was picked from the collection Dior Fall 2024 runway. For her part, Lopez wore the sleek white coat over a sleek black ribbed turtleneck made from luxurious French cashmere.
An elegant reinterpretation of house codes (en Maid in Manhattan‘s scene-stealing costumes), the timeless neutral colors and impeccable tailoring were reminiscent of the late Christian Dior‘New Look’ from his groundbreaking debut in Paris in 1947.
Similar to Maria Grazia Chiuri’s Dior Fall 2024 collection, this historic fashion moment represented a return to decorative femininity. Lopez capitalized on this by carrying a quilted Lady Dior bag accented with gold DIOR charms.
Next to her Unstoppable cast mates Jharrel Jerome, Anthony Robles, Bobby Cannavale And Don CheadleLopez twirled for photographers in a pair of D-Idole patent boots. Covered in buckles and a shiny sculptural gold heel, they moved her ready-to-wear to a couture-worthy place.
Combined with a sharp black fedora cocked to the side, the result was, to borrow a phrase Ben Affleck“spectacular.”
