Fox News’ Jesse Watters on Monday aired footage of liberals talking about not inviting their President-elect Donald Trump-supporting friends and family to Thanksgiving.
He then revealed, “People take up some space in the Watters household. I just wanted to let you know that I wasn’t invited to my mother’s house for Thanksgiving. Apparently there wasn’t enough room. She said it was a scheduling situation and invited me to come over on Black Friday at the last minute. I said no thanks, “I’m at Best Buy.”
Critics on social media read the moment:
It’s not clear how ironic Watters was in his claim about his mother, Democratic voter Anne Watters. But she does have a long history of calling out her son’s pro-Trump views and his racist and sexist comments.
When the anchor officially took over the 8 p.m. slot from the fired Tucker Carlson in 2023, she called with some advice. “Don’t fall down the rabbit hole of conspiracy. We don’t want to lose you and we don’t want lawsuits,” Anne Watters said at the time. “In accordance with the Hippocratic Oath: Do no harm. We need you to be kind and respectful.”

“Find a solution instead of fanning the flames,” she added, before saying of Trump: “You could encourage that Bedminster friend of yours to return to his previous career on television. Everyone in his audience could wear a red hat and I’m sure the ratings will rise, though never as high, my dear, as yours, on ‘Jesse Watters Primetime.’
In May, Watters revealed on air that his mother sent him repeated text messages about Trump’s 34 felony convictions in his hush money trial.
“My mother is celebrating. She texted me that she was dancing after the verdict. Dancing. And then she kept sending me 34, 34, 34 felonies all day,” Watters said. ‘She’s a grandmother. She is a grandmother. Get it together, Mom. Oh my God.”
