Joe Biden calls on Democrats to ’embrace’ Kamala Harris

US President Joe Biden on Monday urged his supporters to embrace Vice President Kamala Harris, saying his decision to withdraw from the White House race was the “right thing.”

‘I want to say to the team: hug her. She is the best,” Biden said, calling from his beach house, to staff at his campaign headquarters, which has switched to supporting Harris.

“I know yesterday’s news is surprising and difficult for you to hear, but it was the right thing to do,” he said of his decision to quit.
