Joe Rogan opened up about why a podcast interview with Vice President Kamala Harris hasn’t materialized yet, just days after his viral “Joe Rogan Experience” interview with former President Donald Trump.
The Austin, Texas-based podcast host, who told Trump he was sincere during Friday’s episode hoped that an interview with the Democratic presidential candidate would take placeconfirmed Tuesday on X, formerly Twitter, that “the Harris campaign has not yet passed on the podcast.”
“They offered a date for Tuesday, but I would have to travel to her and they only wanted to do an hour,” he wrote. “I strongly believe the best way to do this is in the studio in Austin. My sincere wish is to just have a nice conversation and get to know her as a person.”
Earlier this week, Harris’ campaign confirmed that they had discussed a possible performance with Rogan, but that did not work out due to her schedule.
While Rogan concluded that he hopes “we can make it happen” before Election Day, his nonchalant dismissal of such a high-profile interview – one he has previously brought up on his show – is has left social media users both bewildered and frustrated.
Rogan was criticized for platforming Trump on the podcast Friday, but he was also praised for pressing the former president about his false claims that the 2020 presidential election was stolen.
Later in his interview, Rogan said he could have “a good conversation” with Harris if she came on the show.
“I think I could talk to her.” he told Trump during their interview. “I wouldn’t try to interview her, I would just try to have a conversation with her and hopefully get to know her as a person. That was my goal, to attract her, to get her to express herself.”
The episode has since been viewed more than 37 million times on YouTube alone.
