JoJoborn Joanna Noëlle Levesque, made no bones about it when she wrote her memoirs, About the influencewhich was released on September 17.
During an interview with TIME, she said of her memoir: “I didn’t have that on my bingo card for 33, but I’m so happy.
“I feel a lot of joy, a lot of excitement and a lot of gratitude that I get to bring my story into the world. I hope that it touches some people in a way that it touches them.”
She began her memoir with details about her parents and the early days of her career.
According to JoJo, she started singing as a toddler after being influenced by her former singer mother, Dianaand her late father, Joel. However, her parents divorced when she was five, and after his relapse she became estranged from her father.
Her mother stepped into the role of manager, but also faced her own demons – so much so that she once threatened take her own life.
