If anything, it felt inevitable that the real Kamala Harris would eventually respond to Maya Rudolph’s impression of her Saturday evening live by appearing on the show himself, the audience in 8H was apparently still thrilled when the Vice President and the 2024 Democratic nominee came by SNL this Saturday he will appear next to Rudolph in the cold.
“I wish I could talk to someone who was in my shoes,” Rudolph-as-Harris lamented, wishing aloud that there was “a black, South Asian woman running for president” who would make her run before Election Day advise before looking in a mirror. And there, on the other side, peered the real Harris, wearing her own black blazer, dark top and pearl necklace. She greeted her doppelgänger with a, “You and me both, sister.”
“I’m not really laughing like that, am I?” Harris later asked before she and Rudolph gave a mutual speech about the election. The two then enter the stage side by side. “I’m voting for us,” Rudolph-as-Harris said to the de facto vice president, before shouting the show’s signature: “Live from New York, it’s Saturday night!” slogan directly into the camera. (In addition to Harris’ cameo, SNL alum Andy Samberg also reprized his role as Harris’ lovelorn husband, Doug Emhoff; Dana Carvey, Jim Gaffigan and James Austin Johnson were back to play President Joe Biden, Governor Tim Walz and Donald Trump, respectively; and current cast member Bowen Yang changed back to JD Vance.)
