Keanu Reeves spins out in Pro Auto Racing debut

Keanu Reeves turned around at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway while making his professional auto racing debut.

Reeves, 60, raced around Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the Toyota GR Cup Series on Saturday, Oct. 5, in his first professional race. About halfway through the 45-minute race, Reeves spun onto the grass at the exit of Turn 9. But since there was no collision, he was able to re-enter the race and continue riding without injury.

The Matrix star – who drove a red #92 BRZRKR car to promote his graphic novel The book from elsewhere-qualified 31st out of 35 cars and finished the race in 25th place. According to AP NewsAt one point, Reeves got as high as 21st and avoided another crash at Turn 14. The action movie star has another race scheduled for Sunday, October 6.

Before the event, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway shared images via Instagram of Reeves before and after he drove his car around the track. “Even movie stars are excited to compete in the Racing Capital of the World,” the caption read.

Reeves previously competed in a celebrity race at the 2009 Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, finishing in first place. It should come as no surprise that Reeves would be interested in racing, given his enthusiasm for motorcycles and, in general, going fast. He even co-founded his own custom motorcycle company, ARCH, in 2011.
