The monologue of Jon Hamm on “Saturday Night Live” was a self -remediation piece over the entire series of cameies he had during the show over the years and was interrupted by his Frenemy Kieran Culkin.
“I know a cameo may seem unimportant, but it is really an important part of the show,” said Hamm. “Like when a sketch needs that little extra to bring it from a medium -sized sketch to a marginal better than a medium -sized sketch, or when a monologue feels aimless and needs a shock of energy.”
Culkin then comes on stage in a meta moment.
“What are you even doing here? This is my monologue,” Hamm said.
“I know, I’m just making a cameo,” said Culkin
“Why? I am a huge star and I am doing very well,” Hamm replied.
Hamm then demands Culkin’s Oscar and the two bickering if “mad men” is better than “follow -up.”
Culkin is currently in New York City because of his leading role in the “Glengarry Glen Ross” from Broadway.
Hamm spoke with Kristen Wiig about the rapid nature of the “SNL” last year during a conversation for VarietyThe actors about actors.
“I have organized and never again three times in two years,” he said. “The nice part of ‘SNL’ – once I hosted, and we both had quick changes next to each other. And you are like: ‘get ready’, and then we are both naked. They literally tear clothes away. You just have to go with it.”
