With the Concacaf Gold Cup that starts this weekend, the Mexican national team has changed their hotel accommodations in Los Angeles due to safety problems, According to ESPN. El Tri was initially planned to stay in the center of Los Angeles, but will now move to Long Beach to prevent unrest in the city center. Mexico starts the game in the Gold Cup, opposite the Dominican Republic on Saturday, June 14.
The National Team moved hotels because of the Anti-ed protestswho are on their way to their fifth night in the Los Angeles area. With the National Guard troops and American marines who are being used in the city, Concacaf has allowed this late change.
The ruling champions of the Concacaf Gold Cup, Mexico wants to win their third consecutive Domestic Tournament after also winning the Concacaf Nations League in March. Placed in group A, they will be confronted with Costa Rica, Suriname and the Dominican Republic in their last competitive tournament prior to the 2026 World Cup, which will take place in Mexico, Canada and the United States.
