After a good start to the Champions League with a victory over Milan, Liverpool will follow up on the disappointing team from Bologna. A lot has changed for both since last season, but Bologna’s appointment of a new manager and key players in multiple positions will ensure that this will be a difficult match against Liverpool who are finding their feet under Arne Slot. It is Bologna’s first time in Europe’s top competition since the 1964/65 European Cup and they are also struggling in the league, where they sit 13th in Serie A.

Team news
Liverpool: Defensively, the Reds are the strongest line-up in the Premier League, having allowed just two goals in the competition so far. With Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz, Liverpool also have plenty of attacking threats for Bologna to deal with. Harvey Elliott will be the only absentee for Liverpool in the match as the Reds have avoided major injuries to kick off the season.
Possible Liverpool XI: Alisson, Alexander Arnold, Kounate, van Dijk, Robertson, Gravenberch, Salah, Szobozlai, Diaz, Nunez
Bologna: Santiago Castro is the striker to watch for Bologna with three goals in Serie A so far this season. Castro is the only player for the Italian side to have multiple league goals to his name as they struggled to score following the departure of Joshua Zirkzee to Manchester United. Bologna will have to make do without long-term absentees Lewis Ferguson and Nicolo Cambiaghi, along with Ossama El Azzouzi.
Possible Bologna XI: Scorpski, Lykogiannis, Lucumei, Beukema, Posch, Fabbian, Freuler, Aebischer, Ndoye, Castro, Orsilini
Prediction
The Reds will have too much in their attack for Bologna to keep up, making this match a circuitous one. By scoring early and often, it will be out of sight by halftime. Choose: Liverpool3, Bologna1
