Liverpool officially won the Premier League title on Sunday and won the crown with the 5-1 win over Tottenham in Anfield. The victory created a 15-point benefit at the top of the table with only four games in their season. The Reds only needed a draw to win the competition, but exceeded it with a scoring eruption that emphasized the attacking qualities that the team brought so far.
It started a somewhat complicated start when Dominic Solanke scored for the visitors in the 12th minute, but the 16th minute strike by Luis Diaz was enough to ensure that the Reds would win the title. Goals from Alexis Mac Allister, Cody Gakpo, Mohamed Salah and his own goal of Destiny Udogie ensured that there would be much to celebrate in Liverpool.
The Reds have long been the favorites to win the title, only lose twice as far in the course of the season and have a 10-plus lead in second place for a few months. They managed the performance in the first season of Arne Slot who was in charge of the team, and their success in the competition went hand in hand this season with the impressive form of Mohamed Salah. The Egypt International has scored 28 goals and so far 18 assists in one of the best attacking seasons in the history of the Premier League.
This marks Liverpool’s first league title since 2019-2020 and only their second since the Premier League played its inaugural season in 1992-93.
