MTV fans Laguna Beach and its spin-off The hills will know Lo Bosworth by name, and if not for her role in the hit reality TV shows of 2004, then as the founder of total body care brand Love Wellness. Needless to say, she has come a long way since her days as the beloved and bubbly teen who graced our screens with her feisty personality.
Between running a business and hosting her own podcast Gut feelingsBosworth, now 37, has established herself as an entrepreneur in the health and wellness field – an endeavor inspired by her own experience. “I became unwell due to vitamin deficiencies when I first started my career in my 20s,” she says. Through Love Wellness, which was launched in 2016, she aimed to provide solutions to women’s health issues through products and supplements that are free of unwanted (but commonly used) ingredients. After almost eight years in business, she continues to “raise the bar.”
Bosworth has become aware of the importance of wellness, the meaning of which has evolved over time and years. What does well-being mean to her now? “For me, wellness is about balance,” she says. “It’s just as easy to burn out on ‘wellness routines’ as at work. I use an 80/20 rule where I make healthy choices 80 percent of the time, and 20 percent of the time I have fun, drink, eat what I want and let my body rest.”
“Balance” may look different for everyone, but we can all agree that it makes us feel good in some way. As Bosworth says, “Feeling good isn’t too much to ask” – a message that applies to both her professional and personal endeavors. Reaching a state of equilibrium is not linear and often takes some trial and error to achieve things just right. For Bosworth, much of the process starts from within. Below are the products Bosworth swears by for maintaining that balance.
Lo Bosworth’s favorite products for well-being
Love Wellness Daily Love Multivitamin – $20.00
“I started Love Wellness after discovering how a severe vitamin deficiency was causing a negative health impact in my body, so of course I can’t live without the Daily Love Multivitamin from Love Wellness,” says Bosworth. Created in collaboration with medical advisors, each capsule contains more than 25 essential nutrients, including cortisol and estrogen, to support the body’s hormones. It is also free of sugar, tapioca or corn syrup, as well as artificial flavors and colors.
Paleo Protein Powder – $40.00
“I like to start my day with a protein shake, and I like the Paleo Pro powder,” says Bosworth. One scoop provides 26 grams of protein isolate from grass-fed cows and protein powders. It’s paleo and keto friendly and the ingredients list is simple and clear. The formula is gluten and lactose free and contains no artificial fillers, added sugars, pesticides or preservatives. As a bonus, you can choose from five flavors. “The ancient cocoa flavor is great,” says Bosworth.
Love Wellness Gut Feelings Probiotics – $30.00
One product that gives Bosworth her enviable, lit-from-within glow is the Love Wellness Gut Feeling Probiotics. (“Everything starts in the gut,” she says.) The formula is third-party tested, and each capsule contains both probiotics and prebiotics to support a more balanced biome, healthier digestive system, and clearer skin. As with many Love Wellness supplements, sugar, tapioca or corn syrup, and artificial flavors and colors are omitted.
Joseon Beauty Relief Sun: Rice + Probiotics SPF50+ – $4.00
Normally $20
“Speaking of probiotics, I love Beauty of Joseon’s Probiotics sunscreen,” says Bosworth. “It’s the best.” Made with sensitive skin in mind, this facial sunscreen contains rice extract (to help reduce sun damage) and fermented grains (to deliver probiotics to the skin). These antioxidant-rich ingredients can also soothe redness and other signs of irritation.
Love Wellness pH Balanced Cleanser – $15.00
“I don’t wash my face with a specific facial cleanser,” says Bosworth. “I actually use our pH Balanced Cleanser for the vulva because it’s so gentle and works great.” The cleanser keeps the ingredient list simple and avoids common skin irritants, such as natural and synthetic fragrances, glycerin, parabens, SLS, SLES, and PEG. Instead, it contains aloe and candela to cleanse and soothe the skin. “It feels like it’s not stripping my skin at all. I actually use it on my whole body,” she says.
FaceGym Multi-Sculpt High Quality Gua Sha – $66.00
“I love my facial gua sha from FaceGym,” says Bosworth. “It’s the best I’ve ever used.” Shaped to fit the curves of the face, it has multiple sides, including one with a combed edge for a deeper massage. This gua sha is also made from medical-grade stainless steel, which is not only more durable than jade or rose quartz options, but is also non-porous to prevent bacteria buildup.
