According to Colorado Parks and Wildlife, wildlife officials captured and relocated a lost moose that was wandering through the Denver area on Monday.
The moose was first spotted west of Denver this weekend and appeared to do a loop around the metro area, visiting homes in Lakewood, Denver and Englewood before CPW officers caught it, according to a post on social media from CPW.
“It was in a bad spot for elk and close to some highways, so we stepped in to help,” CPW officials said in the post.
CPW officers shot and blindfolded the lost elk before loading it into a trailer for relocation, the post said. Wildlife officials did not say where the moose was released, but said officers moved it to a “a better habitat for wild animalsin the Colorado wilderness while “making noise and yelling at him” to make sure the moose still has a healthy fear of humans.
A video Posted by CPW shows wildlife officials leading the moose from a trailer to a dirt road surrounded by vegetation, well away from the town where it was found wandering. The moose turned several times to look at the officers before wandering off down the dirt road.
“Remember that moose are in rut at this time of year and the males can be particularly aggressive and territorial,” CPW officials said. “Give them a big head start while they look for love.”

Besides, wouldn’t this be a great dating profile picture for Taurus? Felt cute, maybe bugle later. pic.twitter.com/Ng2HvSvrwm
