Luigi Mangione‘s online fanbase is next level, with hype so wild that people are even offering to pay his legal bills after he’s charged in court. Brian Thompson murder case.
Thomas Dickeythe lawyer for the 26-year-old Mangione, admitted he had not seen the emails himself, but his office staff informed him of the wild offers to cover his fees.
When asked why fans offered to pay, Dickey told CNN’s The Source Kaitlan Collins that they are “exercising their right to freedom of expression and they say this is the way they support my client.”
Mangione’s online rep has clearly gone through the roof, with fans calling him a hero after he was arrested at a McDonald’s in Pennsylvania on Monday when a customer recognized him and an employee called the police. Mangione was later accused of the murder from the CEO of UnitedHealthcare in New York.
Just minutes after Mangione was identified, insurance haters and internet sleuths were all over his socials to admire and celebrate him. In fact, there even is merchandise now supports Mangione — so it’s safe to say his arrest has completely divided society in two.
Despite all the drama, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre made clear during a briefing on Tuesday: “Violence to combat any form of corporate greed is unacceptable.”
