Man who lost home in fire delighted to be reunited with dog

A man who thought he had lost everything in the California wildfires experienced a fluffy little miracle.

On Sunday, Casey Colvin expressed unbridled joy at being reunited with his dog, Oreo, who went missing during the evacuation of the Pacific Palisades. After five days of searching, the dog was found among the rubble of a neighbor’s burned down house.

In an emotional video posted to social media by NBC correspondent Liz Kreutzyou can see Colvin calling out to Oreo through the gate of his neighbor’s house. As the little pup trots over and ducks under the fence, Colvin immediately scoops the pooch into his arms and screams, “Oh honey, you’re alive!”

Colvin then runs out into the street – with one fist in the air and the other cradling Oreo – to repeatedly shout “Woo!” while he spins in circles excitedly. He then returns to the fence and leans on it, seemingly about to cry when he turns and looks at the camera.

“Where’s NBC?” Colvin wailed at the camera. ‘Where are you, Liz? Thank you! Oh honey, thank you!”

He then runs to the camera to give Kreutz a huge hug.

Colvin’s gratitude is understandable considering the role Kreutz played in reuniting with Oreo.

Colvin was at work when Pacific Palisades was ordered to evacuate amid the fire on Tuesday KNBC TV in Los Angeles. When he heard of the evacuation orders, Colvin spent five hours in traffic trying to get home to save his rescue dogs. But once he got close to his home, he discovered he was not allowed to enter his property. A firefighter noticed how upset Colvin was and offered to go into his home to try to retrieve his pets. The firefighter was able to save one of Colvin’s dogs, named Tika Tika Tika, but Oreo was missing. An hour later, Colvin’s house burned down.

While Colvin tried to save his dogs, he met Kreutz, who reported on the fire in his neighborhood. Kreutz decided to help Colvin in his search for Oreo and posted about the missing dog on social media. Thanks to her help, someone was able to track down Oreo and lead Colvin to his little fur baby on Sunday.
