Beyonce Getting no love from the Country Music Association doesn’t come as a big shock to her father Mathew Knowles …and he thinks race is a factor here.
Bey’s father tells TMZ he’s not surprised his daughter got it zero CMA nominations for her country album “Cowboy Carter,” given her history with the awards show.
Mathew says Beyoncé didn’t have a good experience performing with the Dixie Chicks at the 2016 CMA Awards — her participation didn’t go over well — and he says the CMAs never apologized to Bey.
Beyoncé has one of the biggest country albums of the year, but Mathew says voters “show it still comes down to white and black.”
Mathew sees it this way… “There are more white people in America and unfortunately they don’t vote based on ability and performance, it’s still a white-black thing sometimes.”
Beyoncé’s father says he’s not calling the CMA voters racist, but he says her snap “speaks for itself.”
Worth mentioning… Shaboozeywhich appears on Beyoncé’s country album, is nominated for Best New Artist and Single of the Year for “A Bar Song.”
But when it comes to Beyoncé, Mathew says the decision makers at the CMAs are taking a negative stance… and that’s no surprise “given the current state of American culture.”
Mathew also says… “In America there is no responsibility for people who don’t accept other cultures.”
The irony here for Mathew…he says that the banjo actually comes from Africa and thus country music is a derivative of Africa.
