Matt Barnes says his son has had a pretty rough week… because not only was he hit by a car, but he also needed emergency surgery for another problem!
The former Los Angeles Laker shared the news on Sunday morning by posting a photo of his son Zay lay on a hospital stretcher – middle finger pointed up at his father.
MB runs through the week’s timeline, explaining that Zay was first hit while jogging on Wednesday — a scary enough moment that many assume actually landed him in the hospital.
But it turns out Zay took the blow just fine… when he competed in the Mamba League Invitational, a high school tournament that was created Kobe Bryant‘s honor – Friday.
But that night, Barnes says Zay came to him and his mother with terrible stomach pains. The two rushed him to the hospital where Barnes says doctors performed emergency appendix surgery on what he called, according to one doctor, “the largest appendix he has ever seen that had not ruptured.”
Barnes says his child is doing well now… and Zay also posted a photo today of himself leaving the hospital and saying he’s been discharged.
It seems like Zay is doing well, even if he is a little exhausted at the end of a tough week.
