Michael Cohen said there’s an easy way to spot when Donald Trump is lying, and you don’t have to read the former president’s lips.
“If you see the accordion hands start moving, that means he’s lying,” Cohen, Trump’s longtime fixer and personal attorney, told CNN’s Jim Acosta on Tuesday. ‘It’s a conversation with Donald. Every time the accordion hands start, it means he is not telling the truth.
Cohen spoke with Acosta about Trump’s recurring debate with Vice President Kamala Harris, which appears to have started again, even as the two camps are still arguing over whether to mute microphones when they’re not talking .
The Harris camp wants the microphones on all the time, and Trump has said he’s fine with that.
But his campaign wants to leave them out for the September 10 debate.
Cohen said there’s a reason for that.
“They don’t trust that he’s going to keep his mouth shut and that he’s not going to remain normal for the 90 minutes of the debate,” Cohen said.
Cohen said that Trump – despite what he says – also doesn’t want the microphones on.
“He knows he can’t control himself,” he said. “He says things under his breath, he will constantly interrupt Kamala whenever she says something he doesn’t agree with. He can’t help it.”
