After a wild final day of the season that saw Los Angeles FC secure the top seed in the Western Conference and Inter Miami set the single-season points recordand a wild-card round that saw Atlanta and Vancouver advance, the MLS Cup playoffs are well and truly underway.
The playoffs started on October 22 with the wildcard round and the main round even started on Friday, October 23 with the first round of the best of three series matchups, when Inter Miami defeated Atlanta United 2-1 in their series opener. Despite finishing as the eighth seed in the Western Conference, the Vancouver Whitecaps had to travel to face the Portland Timbers due to BC Place hosting the World Supercross Canadian Grand Prix, but their victory on the road meant they earned the honor had to face LAFC in the first round. , and lost their opener 2-1. After the first best of three matchups, the playoffs become a single elimination as the excitement builds in the battle for an MLS Cup.
