In the documentary, Eggert spoke candidly about her stage 2 cribriform carcinoma of breast cancer diagnosis, which she learned about in December 2023.
Eggert said, “There’s really only one way to deal with it and that is facing it, fighting it and enjoying the time you have left. Because if this is it, I don’t want my last days to be sad. I don’t want my children to remember me sad.”
In the meantime, Michael Newman was diagnosed Parkinson’s in 2006.
Trying to keep his emotions in check, he revealed: “It was hard to be diagnosed with something like that. Once a doctor tells you you have Parkinson’s, your whole life changes. You have to rearrange your life. All those things you had planned for your family and yourself, adventures you wanted to go on, you’re not going.”
Newman, the only real lifeguard in the cast, hopes the documentary will “shed light on the heroism of the lifeguarding profession” and “build respect for the global brotherhood of men and women.”
