Snowfall in the Denver metro area subsided Saturday morning, but delays and cancellations continued at Denver International Airport after a week in which thousands of flights were affected by winter weather.
As of 11.35am on Saturday, 73 flights to and from the airport had been cancelled, while another 263 were delayed. This is reported by the flight tracking service FlightAware.
The majority of these flights were owned by SkyWest, with 50 flights canceled and 62 delayed; United, with six canceled and 99 delayed flights; and Southwest, with eight canceled and 73 delayed flights.
The impact on travel on Saturday was less severe than previous days, with around 1,100 flights affected on Thursday, followed by more than 1,500 flights on Friday.
Airport spokesman Michael Konopasek said many of the delays were necessitated by the process of removing ice from aircraft.
“It was, all things considered, a smooth operation,” he said. “We are looking forward to doing some clean-up work. We’ve been focused on snow removal here the entire time.”
