Naked and scared alum Sara Dancer died Sunday, October 20 at the age of 34 after a car accident in Kahala, Honolulu, Hawaii.
Local news channel KSLA reports that Danser died Tuesday, October 22, after being involved in a car accident, citing Honolulu police. Dancer was a passenger in a vehicle being driven eastbound by a 59-year-old man, who lost control of the car and struck a parked vehicle, police said.
Dancer was hospitalized in critical condition and succumbed to her injuries two days later.
The driver of the car was also hospitalized in serious condition, the news channel said. Authorities said speed was the cause of the crash, not drugs or alcohol.
Dancer first appeared on a reality show Naked and scared in 2017 during season 8 and returned in season 11. She also competed in seasons 4, 6 and 7 of the spin-off show Naked and Afraid XL. Last year, Danser appeared in another reality show, Fight to surviveaired on The CW.
The survivalist’s brother, Jake Dancertold KSLA: “Magical is the way to describe her. Sarah had a positive energy about her that really filled the environment she was in.
“I really saw how much of a difference she made in the lives of others. I think she saved my life once while diving in Indonesia,” Danser’s father, Then Dancerthe outlet told us.
‘She was smart. She went underwater. She found food, snails and slugs and things like that. She knew what she had to do to survive and she did a great job,” Danser’s friend Tim Mason added.
Danser, originally from Castle Rock, Colorado, lived in Hawaii for about 12 years, according to her relatives.
On her Instagram page, Danser described himself as a “boat captain, diver, survivalist” and a “pirate.”
Danser’s employer, Island Divers Hawaii, paid tribute to the reality star via Facebook on Thursday, October 24. “It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to a good friend and great captain. Sarah brought so much energy to everyone she came into contact with. You will be greatly missed,” the organization said in a statement.
Naked and scaredairing on the Discovery Channel and Discovery+, it chronicles a variety of adventurers as they find themselves stranded in the wilderness completely naked.
Danser’s death comes two years after the death of a fellow survivor Melanie Rausch in July 2022 at the age of 35. Rausch and Danser worked together Naked and Afraid XL season 4, aired in 2018, while also trying to survive the South African wilderness Dustin ‘Duck’ Campbell.
