Netflix has unveiled its slate of original series and films from Thailand and Indonesia that premiered premiered in 2025, while the streaming service continues to invest in Southeast -Asian content at a time when “the competition is withdrawing”, according to Minyoung Kim, VP of Netflix -content (APAC, ex-India).
The Thai Slate contains nine titles, according to what Kim describes as “eight groundbreaking local productions that the public fascinated in Thailand and beyond in 2024. The Thai line-up starts with” Dalah: Death and the Flowers “on 27 February, a high Society Murder Mystery starring Urassaya Sperbund, helped by directors Thanika Jenjesda and follows a mysterious flower designer in the suspect murder of a prime minister on the eve of his wedding, with executive producer Pabda Yoon That supervises production.
Genre offers are prominently present in the Thai Lei, including ‘Ziam’, a zombie -action thriller directed by Kulp Kaljaruk, with Prin Suparat in a story about survival in the midst of food shortages. Of the producers of the global hit ‘How to make Millions before grandma dies’, ‘Mad Unicorn’, directed by Nottapon Boonprakob and with Natara Nopparatayapon, the company of a reformed street management describes in the express delivery company. The ‘The Lovevers’, where a conspiracy the organized religion with local politics, returns for a second season with Teeradon Supapunpinyo that leads the cast.
April brings ‘Frozen Hot Boys’, an unconventional sports drama directed by Naruwebordee Wechakum and Tanakit Kittiapithan, after a cunning teacher who leads delinquent teenagers in a Japanese snow -sculpting competition. The Lei also includes the historical robbery film ‘Khao Chum Thong’, assisted by director Wisan Sasanation, and the Time-Lus drama ‘Sum Wan Gub Animal’ with Jarinporn Jonkiat.
The Thai Lei round out with two more titles: “Tee Yai Rerk Dao Jone”, a historic drama after two outlaws whose band is tested by a detective that is determined to hunt a notorious gang of robbers in the 1980s Bangkok, and “Everyone loves me when me when I am dead,” a story about two bank employees who try to steal from a non – -required account, don’t know that it is money from dangerous people who want it back.
Indonesia’s 2025 Line -Up is launched with “The Most Beautiful Girl in the World” on Valentine’s Day. The film directed by Robert Ronny plays Reza Rahadian as a Playboy that creates a dating show to fulfill his father’s last wish. March brings ‘Promised Harten’ (Setetes Embun Cinta Niyala), an adjustment of the novel by Habiburrahman El Shirazy directed by Anggy Umbara and with Bey Tsabina and Deva Mahenra. The following month the premiere of “Losmen Bu Broto: The Series”, a family drama in a Yogyakarta Inn, sees an ensemble -cast led by Mathias Muchus and Maudy Koesnadi.
“Ratu Ratu Queens: The Series” follows four Indonesian women (played by Nirina Zubir, Asri Welas, Happy Salma and Tika Panggabean) who leave their home country to start a new lives in Queens, New York, led by Lucky Kuswandi .
The Indonesian slate continues with ‘a normal woman’, a psychological drama starring Marissa Anita; “The actor” (Lupa Daratan), with Vino G. Bastian as a celebrated artist who loses his skills; and “The Elixir” (Abadi Nan Jaya), a zombie survival thriller directed by Kimo Stamboel with an ensemble -cast including Mikha Tambayong and Eva Celia.
The streaming service aims to show that “first appeal to the local target groups, but also makes it easy for everyone to view them everywhere and whenever they want,” says Kim.
