The Asian Kabaddi Federation has officially confirmed the new data for the sixth edition of the Asian Women’s Kabaddi Championship. The tournament now takes place from 4 to 9 March 2025 in Tehran, Iran. The Iranian capital, which previously organized the second edition in 2007, will be the first city to organize the event twice.
The tournament was initially planned to be held in Tehran from 20 to 25 February, but the dates were revised due to a planning conflict with the Senior National Kabaddi championship of India. Organizers have pushed the event for almost two weeks and the new dates have now been officially confirmed.
Due to the competition, 12 teams compete for the continental title, with title defender India who wants to keep their supremacy. India has been the most successful team in the history of the tournament and has so far won four of the five editions. The only time that India failed to win gold was in 2016 when South Korea won the title on the home floor.
The last edition of the tournament took place in 2017 when India Zuid -Korea defeated in the final to reclaim their crown in Gorgan, Iran. After an eight -year gap, the Indian team returns to defend their title.
Asian Kabaddi Championship for Women to serve in preparation for Women’s Cup Kabaddi
The Kabaddi Championship 2025 of Asian ladies will also serve as a crucial platform prior to the World Cup Women’s Kabaddi, which will take place later this year in Bihar, India. With the global event on the Horizon, the Continental Championship teams offers the opportunity to refine their preparations against top Asian competitors.
Although it is one of the most important events in Kabaddi for women, the tournament has been sporadically kept since its foundation in 2005. This will only be the sixth edition in almost two decades. With the last edition finally confirmed, however, organizers hope to draw up a more consistent schedule for the future.
