Nobody Wants This is the heartwarming rom-com series of the fall season, which has already gained a large social media following since its debut in late September. The show follows a sex podcaster, Joanne, and a rabbi, Noah, who meet at a bar.
Despite that ridiculous description, this series has captured the hearts of viewers – with Kristen Bell and Adam Brody having off-the-charts chemistry and Timothy Simons and Justine Lupe providing hilarious sidekick energy… plus Brody’s alluring rabbi appeal ( helped by his previous role in De OC) certainly helped with publicity.
If you’ve watched all ten episodes of Nobody Wants This, you know the story is left on a major cliffhanger. With that in mind, we’ve rounded up everything we know about Netflix’s plans to renew it.
Will there be a Nobody Wants this season 2?
Yes! Variety confirmed that there will be one season 2 of Nobody Wants This.
Creator Erin Foster gave the following quote at the Bloomberg Screentime conference in Los Angeles:
The incredible cast, crew, producers, and executives have all made this the show it is today, and to experience viewers’ reactions to this series now that it’s out in the world is more than I could have ever imagined. I’m so happy to be able to continue this story
However, Foster will take on the role of executive producer only, handing over showrunner duties to Girls alumni Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan.
The series has received widespread critical acclaim on Rotten Tomatoes, with 90% and 94% respectively at the time of writing. Netflix also wrote an article about the end of season 1, which hinted at the “future” for Joanne and Noah.

When can Nobody Wants This season 2 be released?
We may not have to wait too long for season 2 of Nobody Wants This if the production schedule for the first season is anything to go by.
The series was greenlit by Netflix on March 1, 2023, with filming starting in March 2024 – the series was released just six months later.
We obviously don’t know how far along the script for season 2 is, but filming doesn’t seem to take much time. Therefore, when the writing is completed early next year, there’s a chance Nobody Wants This will return in the summer of 2025 at the earliest.
Who could star in Nobody Wants This season 2?
Netflix has not yet confirmed a cast list for season 2. However, Foster told The Wrap that both Kristen Bell and Adam Brody would return as Joanne and Noah, respectively.
We could also see the following actors return:
- Justine Lupe as Morgan
- Timothy Simons as Sasha
- Stephanie Faracy as Lynn
- Tovah Feldshuh as Bina
- Paul Ben-Victor as Ilan
- Jackie Tohn as Esther
- Emily Arlook as Rebecca
- Sherry Cola as Ashley
- Shiloh Bearman as Mirjam
- Stephen Tobolowsky as Rabbi Cohen
What could the plot of Nobody Wants This season 2 be about?
We expect the show to resume not long after the events of the first season – spoilers for the end of episode 10 below!
Joanne and her sister showed up unexpectedly at Noah’s niece’s Bat Mitzvah, despite initially pretending to be sick to escape it. Once she heard about Rebecca’s lies about her and Noah’s contact, she decided to show her face.

After arriving, she announces to Noah that she would like to convert to Judaism – something he had originally said was crucial for a serious relationship and that he could be promoted to head rabbi.
But after learning the responsibilities that come with being a rabbi, she makes a U-turn because she’s honest that it’s not what she wants. She ends the relationship and leaves.
In true romantic style, Noah chases her down to kiss her, proving he still wants to be with her.
But what does that mean? Well, Brody told Tudum that the kiss is his way of saying, “I put you first.” Everything else will work itself out, but I say you are my priority.
While that may have seemed like something spontaneous, this is a theme that will be central to the complexities of Joanne and Noah’s future relationship. As Brody explains in the same article, “I think this is what the show can explore. What should he do? What should she do? Which version of sacrifice is worth it? What does growth mean, or what does dimming yourself to be with someone else mean?
It’s a sacrifice, but ideally you grow together and are better for it; you don’t have to lose a limb.”
Another big storyline of season 2 could be the budding friendship between Morgan and Sasha. Timothy Simons elaborates on this in the same article: “…it makes sense that whatever loser-sibling relationship they have, that’s a connection…They’re trying to figure out what that connection really means or what’s behind it. They can’t deny it’s there, but what’s underneath?”
This is made more complicated by Sasha’s wife, Esther, who is quite threatened by Morgan and her sister. Jackie Tohn explains more about her character’s mentality towards the end of the first season: “… from Esther’s perspective, the wheels fall off.
There are secrets that have taken place. I don’t know how deep they are, and we won’t find out until the end of the season. What actually happened? How close are they?”
Therefore, there is a chance that we could see a possible fallout between Sasha and Esther as he and Morgan grow closer.
Will there be a season 3 of Nobody Wants This?
No confirmation has been given about the future of Nobody Wants This beyond season 2. However, creator Erin Foster told IndieWire the following:
I think conversations about a possible season 2 have definitely started. The story in season 1 unfolds very slowly. And so I think if there is a season 2, I would just like to pick up where we left off and take it slow because I don’t want us to get too far ahead of ourselves. I mean, I want my show to stay on the air as long as possible!
So the creator has plans for what sounds like multiple seasons – plus, the early renewal of Season 2 could be a good sign that this show will continue for many years to come.
