Obi Ndefowho starred as Bodie Wells Dawson’s Creekdied at the age of 51.
His death was announced on Facebook by his sister, Nkem Ndefoon Saturday, August 31.
“Heartbroken at the loss of my younger brother and knowing he is finally at peace,” Nkem captioned a photo of himself smiling with Obi. She did not provide details about his death.

The actor and yoga teacher was best known for his work on Dawson’s Creekin which he played the recurring role of Bodie from 1998 to 2002. Maria-Margaret Humeswho played Dawson’s mother Gale Leery on the series, posted a tribute to her former costar on Instagram Saturday when he learned of his death.

You were and always will be a bright light,” she captioned a series of throwback moments from the show. “What an example of pure unfiltered love and tenacity you have set as you have faced the challenges of life in recent times. I will cherish all our messages of love and support for each other over the years. Rest in peace dear warrior.”
Humes also tagged a colleague Dawson’s Creek alum in her post, including Katie Holmes, Joshua Jackson And Jacobus Van Der Beek.
Obi’s death comes several years after a tragic accident cost him both legs in 2019.
